Preamble

As-salam-o-Alaikum Rahamatullah wa Barakatuhu

Respected Brother/Sister,

Let me express myself starting with the name of Almighty Allah, the most Merciful and the most Graceful, Who has sent us on this earth with the great learning key
'Iqra' - meaning read. This word of the Holy Quran has inspired us to lift an underprivileged society.

Maulana Azad Academy, the Dream Land of the Society is undoubtedly a silent revolution in the educational movement of Bengal in 21st Century. Education is the main foundation of the progress of the country and the nation. With this idea in mind and with a vision to disseminate education amongst the members of the down-trodden and backward community, we started our journey by setting up this residential Education Institution at Hallyan, Bagnan, Howrah on the 10th June, 2002. It has hardly completed seven years of its age. It is a toddler, so to say still it is right conscious and fearless in mind and dedicated to its goal. We want that education, which develops the potentialities already in man, be imparted with Islamic ideas and values. A student will learn Science, will be conversant with the modern approach of learning, at the same time he will be a true citizen of India. With the selfless donation and the service rendered by numerous eduction-loving people, this academy is marching ahead towards its desired goal. It gives me pleasure to think that, within a very short span of time, its reputation has transcended the limits of this Province and spread throughout the farflung area outside West Bengal. The well-meaning people of the society, those who are sparing thughts for its gradual development, have come together under the Umbrella of the Academy to lend their mite for the cause of education. We have with us, reputed persons such as Industrialist Alhaj Mostak Hossain, Al-Haj Sajahan Biswas, popular Ex-M.P. Janab Hannan Mollah, Newly elected M.P. and Hon'ble minister Govt. of India Janab Sultan Ahmed, dynamic personality and Hon'ble Minister Govt. of W.B. Dr. Abdus Sattar, and also Member of Parliament Mohammed Salim etc. Not only that, the Senior I.A.S. Officer Janab Sheikh Nurul Haque, Janab Abdul Khaleque inspite of their busy schedule, takes out time to guide the Academy in academic sphere. The reputed businessman, Al-Haj M.A. Rashid, Jb. Sultan Ali Mollah and eminent Industrialist Jb. Badruddin Azmal Sb. are also with us. I will be failing in my duty if I do not mention the name of Janab Mohammed Akhruzzaman, a young Advocate of Calcutta High Court, who has spared no pains to transmit the information of this Academy to a far reaching District, Murshidabad. Apart from them, Janab Imdadul Haque Noor, Editor of "Notun Goti", a periodical Magazine, has done a lot to make this Academy known all over West Bengal. Young Education lover Alhaj Alamgir Fakir, generous donor Jb. Ahmad Ali (Burdwan), Mushtaque Hossain Mullick(Calcutta) and Shemsel Haque (Metiaburuz), young social worker, Jb. Manwar Hossain, Alhaj Hasib Alam(Burdwan), Ahmad Hasan Imran, Editor of Kalam Weekly and many other Businessmen have come forward with their finacial assistance to make this Academy, an ideal abode of learning. More over, Rofiul Islam a senior officer of High Court, Calcutta, Sk. Shamsher Alam, I.T.O Govt. of India and Sr. Teacher and Social Worker, Janab Sahadat Hossain, Janab Sajjad Qamran , Jb. Dr. M. N. Haque and Jb. Hafez Sheikh Aynul Bari etc. have wxtended their all-out support specially in the matter of achieving academic excellence

We are grateful to
Moulana Aazd Education Foundation which helped us sancting with a grand sum of money for the building at the initial stage. They are with us and we do hope that they will remain with us in future also.

I am proud of that you have entrusted me, this humble self, with the responsibility to lead this
Maulana Azad Academy and have given me a team of dedicated souls for which I am extremely grateful. I do believe that, although, this institution is located at Hallayan, Howrah, W.B, it is the Institution which belongs to the entire community, may the entire country. Now I like to take the privilege to throw some light on the inner lay-out of this Academy. At present about 700 students are studying here. Out of them 200 students starting from class V to XII (only Science Stream) are studying here enjoying free-ship. Apart from that, we have been able to make arrangement to give stipend to 247 poor outsider students, right now, by courtesy of G.D. Charitable Society, we have been able to make arrangement for giving stipend to muslim and non-muslim meritorious students aspiring for higher education.

You will be glad to know that our Madhyamik, H.S. & J.E. Examinees have achieved spectacular result this year also by the grace of Almighty Allah. We are fortunate to get a team of more than 60 young, energetic, dedicated teachers, who have taken their service very seriously along with 50 non -teaching employees. In a ward, the Academy has become a big family. I take pleasure to announce that in 2009 itself, I have been able to create a lot of property. With the economic favour from G.D. Charitable Society, G.D. Bhawan has already been constructed for the Senior students along with this we have been able to set up a Science Laboratory building with the financial help of G. D. Charitable society in order to meet up the needs of the students. We have set up Maulana Azad Library, a Mosque (Prayer Hall) of capacity of 600 but due to the ever-increasing pressure from the students, separate Science Bhawan, and 1st floor of the Prayer-hall, have become extremely necessary. For this, we have already taken some plans for the year 2009-2010. But economic stringency is standing in our way. The question remain unsolved who will look after the ever increasing pressure of meritorious but poor students? Who will show them the light? It is indeed a Herculean task. Only the management of the Academy cannot achieve this. It needs the help of everybody and persons from all walks of life. We are determined to achieve our goal because we believe, "Where there is a will, there is a way". If we fail in our mission and show negligence and lethargy in our pursuit we will be accountable to the society and to the Nation. I do firmly believe that by the Grace of Almighty Allah and the unlimited and unstained support rendered by you from different corners, we shall win and overcome the problems very soon.

Conveying my gratitude to the Almighty, I, make an earnest appeal to you all to come forward and stand by the side of this Academy. It is my humble Appeal that you all will be with us in our pains and pleasure and help us to lit the light-of Enlightenment, to fight against darkness. May Allah accord us grand success. With sincere regards & Salam,

-- Allah Hafez..
With best wishes.
